Forget about the murders. Forget about the war in Iraq. Forget the bride with cold feet. The only news I care about at the present time has to do with a proud mama duck and her 11 little ducklings.

In case you missed it, about four weeks ago a female mallard duck set up a nest in the mulch outside of the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. An unlikely spot, especially considering the fact that it was right next door to the White House. Anyway, she became an instant tourist attraction and was the center of a lot of attention. The Secret Service took it upon themselves to look after the expectant mommy, building a metal guardrail around her nest, giving her a bowl of water, and guarding her. They've given her names like "Duck Cheney" and "Quacks Reform."

Yesterday her eggs hatched-- all 11 of them! And today, a motorcade took the new family to a pond at a nearby park. Apparently it was a very elaborate mission.

I find the whole story cute and endearing, but what frustrates me is the lack of good photos of the mommy duck and her little ones. CNN posted a couple when the eggs first started hatching out. She's in her nest with a couple of heads peaking out. And CBS posted a little tiny picture of her with the ducks behind her. But there's nothing else! How, in this day and age of technological miracles, can there not be any good photos of the mommy and her brood? Surely the media have taken pictures of them, so where are they?
